Ephemeral
The short film ‘Ephemeral’ relates to the photographers use of the camera as an extension of themselves, to open up new ways of visualising their world. The presence of the camera is important as the film is reflective of the photographic medium. There is a play of light within the photographers environment, transformed by layering frames together to form a poetic journey through a space transcending time. The short film focuses on the beauty and subtle shifts of light which influence shadows. The sounds are atmospheric, taken from the photographers space and shifting throughout the film. The intention is for them is to heighten the viewers awareness of sounds within spaces. Our hearing and sight are selective and shaped by the environments we inhabit, we subconsciously filter sounds and visual material. The cameras microphone and lens can capture more than we can and they have the ability to preserve a moment. Thus creating an experience we can not encounter in the world without the camera.
